EXAMPLE CASE OF CREATING A PROFITABLE SOLUTION

Zoetis is the world leader in animal health, covering over 100 countries with their products and services, veterinary pathology among others. Partnering with Techcyte, a technology specialist in AI-powered digital diagnostic testing, Zoetis launched the VetScan Imagyst in September 2020, an automated digital pathology platform helping veterinarians make accurate and timely diagnoses for cats and dogs.

The Grundium Ocus®40 slide scanner is the perfect imaging component for solutions requiring high-resolution and versatility in the lab.

A participating vet clinic is provided with an Ocus®40 slide scanner and a sampling kit. When a patient, a cat or a dog, arrives at the clinic, a fecal sample is prepared on a glass slide. Instead of sending physical slides to a laboratory for analysis, the slides are inserted into the Ocus®40 scanner, and the scanned sample images are processed automatically by a deep-learning Techcyte AI algorithm and potential parasites are detected and counted. When previously test results would take days or even weeks, a diagnosis now arrives in 10-15 minutes!

PARTNERING WITH GRUNDIUM

Grundium was founded in 2015 by a group of ex-Nokia and ex-Microsoft flagship camera phone experts. With this background Grundium applies a unique mix of mobile device technology, precision optics, high-end design, and solid construction in digital microscopy. The imaging method of the Ocus® scanners is protected by patents – despite its small size the Ocus® takes the sharpest images in the business.

Grundium takes pride in being a credible, trustworthy, and reliable partner. Our manufacturing is well organized and even through the pandemic we’ve been able to consistently grow our output, routinely shipping several hundred scanners per month around the world. We know how to make life easy for our customers, so we design our hardware and software to fit any existing system, and we support all common file formats. The Ocus® scanners don’t come with monthly fees or hidden costs. Our format makes it easy for our partners to get into business with us and we’re happy to discuss customization options too.
