Grundium’s first technology patent in China

Grundium has been issued a technology patent in China with the title “A Method, An Apparatus And A Computer Program Product For Focusing”. The patent is another part of Grundium’s portfolio of innovations in making the sharpest images in the digital slide scanning business.

The granted patent describes a novel focus depth model for sharp digital imaging of pathology slides. In this method, a focus stack of images taken from one or several points in a scanned specimen is used to estimate the best focus level of a point elsewhere on the slide. This method saves scanning time by reducing the number of images needed for sharp focusing.

A portable slide scanner available right where it’s needed is almost always faster than a central multi-slide scanner.
